Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Healthcare and IT sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.21%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which rose 2.79% or 23.65 points to trade at 869.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 1.84% or 6.20 points to end at 345.00 and Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) was up 2.25% or 8.65 points to 392.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which fell 6.07% or 12.90 points to trade at 197.60 at the close. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) declined 4.56% or 13.65 points to end at 285.30 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was down 3.78% or 52.80 points to 1347.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 2.21% to 208.30, Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was up 1.93% to settle at 391.20 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which gained 1.71% to close at 272.90.
The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 3.69% to 1350.25 in late trade, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which lost 2.61% to settle at 1255.55 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 1.22% to 3458.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1175 to 429 and 50 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1713 fell and 792 advanced, while 139 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.07% or 12.90 to 197.60. Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.25% or 8.65 to 392.30. Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) rose to all time highs; up 1.93% or 7.40 to 391.20.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.66% to 13.5925.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.99% or 12.10 to $1215.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.45% or 0.98 to hit $66.77 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.23% or 0.90 to trade at $72.00 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.73% to 68.975, while EUR/INR rose 0.24% to 80.0610.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 95.22.
