Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Power and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.20%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which rose 2.01% or 14.05 points to trade at 714.70 at the close. Meanwhile, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) added 1.99% or 20.15 points to end at 1,033.00 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) was up 0.92% or 41.15 points to 4,526.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which fell 7.09% or 122.20 points to trade at 1,600.85 at the close. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) declined 5.67% or 35.70 points to end at 593.40 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was down 2.64% or 29.10 points to 1,073.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 2.33% to 1,036.00, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 1.20% to settle at 222.75 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 1.08% to close at 4,534.70.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 2.90% to 1,070.25 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 1.94% to settle at 747.05 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 1.40% to 356.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1459 to 503 and 33 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2414 fell and 999 advanced, while 99 ended unchanged.
Shares in Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.40% or 5.05 to 356.30.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.23% to 15.10.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.21% or 4.10 to $1,975.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.44% or 0.32 to hit $73.13 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.30% or 0.23 to trade at $77.99 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.06% to 82.16, while EUR/INR rose 0.28% to 88.97.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 102.28.
