Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Auto and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.19%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which rose 2.21% or 90.00 points to trade at 4,165.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 1.31% or 41.90 points to end at 3,243.95 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) was up 0.87% or 22.50 points to 2,621.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL), which fell 2.86% or 36.25 points to trade at 1,231.25 at the close. Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) declined 2.23% or 75.45 points to end at 3,313.45 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was down 1.98% or 15.25 points to 754.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 1.29% to 3,242.90, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was up 0.81% to settle at 2,621.15 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which gained 0.50% to close at 7,108.90.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.60% to 2,674.30 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 1.46% to settle at 827.55 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.29% to 1,273.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1071 to 825 and 56 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1771 fell and 1629 advanced, while 128 ended unchanged.
Shares in Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) rose to all time highs; rising 2.21% or 90.00 to 4,165.30.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.68% to 13.78.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.94% or 16.95 to $1,814.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.85% or 0.64 to hit $76.02 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.45% or 0.36 to trade at $80.16 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.14% to 82.76, while EUR/INR rose 0.42% to 88.02.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.66% at 103.65.
