Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Real Estate and IT sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.19%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 3.89% or 13.05 points to trade at 348.65 at the close. Meanwhile, UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) added 3.86% or 146.20 points to end at 3936.25 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) was up 3.16% or 8.35 points to 272.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which fell 5.70% or 50.55 points to trade at 838.00 at the close. Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) declined 4.36% or 58.70 points to end at 1284.00 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was down 3.08% or 17.60 points to 553.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 3.96% to 348.80, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 2.97% to settle at 272.30 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which gained 2.35% to close at 1321.85.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 4.47% to 1284.50 in late trade, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which lost 3.09% to settle at 221.10 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 2.71% to 553.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1007 to 592 and 37 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1517 fell and 1010 advanced, while 139 ended unchanged.
Shares in Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.09% or 7.05 to 221.10. Shares in Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) rose to all time highs; rising 2.35% or 30.30 to 1321.85.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.65% to 12.5750.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.06% or 0.70 to $1252.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.46% or 0.34 to hit $74.48 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.17% or 0.13 to trade at $78.11 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.09% to 68.925, while EUR/INR rose 0.65% to 80.5885.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 94.14.
