Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the IT, Technology and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.17%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which rose 4.75% or 97.85 points to trade at 2,159.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) added 2.83% or 8.30 points to end at 302.00 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was up 2.09% or 93.30 points to 4,551.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which fell 2.12% or 27.25 points to trade at 1,261.05 at the close. Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) declined 1.61% or 101.10 points to end at 6,196.00 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was down 1.58% or 2.65 points to 164.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 4.68% to 2,159.35, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 2.88% to settle at 302.15 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 1.43% to close at 1,509.00.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 2.08% to 1,262.00 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 1.52% to settle at 164.85 and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 1.50% to 6,198.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1210 to 981 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1932 fell and 1739 advanced, while 125 ended unchanged.

(BO:MAHM) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.68% or 96.50 to 2,159.35. Shares in Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) rose to all time highs; up 2.88% or 8.45 to 302.15.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.19% to 12.87.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.24% or 29.30 to $2,328.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.22% or 0.18 to hit $82.81 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.21 to trade at $87.41 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.04% to 83.40, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 89.51.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 105.57.
