Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.17%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL), which rose 3.97% or 54.00 points to trade at 1,413.95 at the close. Meanwhile, HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) added 2.65% or 16.85 points to end at 651.80 and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) was up 2.63% or 140.20 points to 5,478.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which fell 3.69% or 21.60 points to trade at 563.05 at the close. Axis Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) declined 3.12% or 32.00 points to end at 994.35 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was down 2.70% or 5.45 points to 196.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which rose 1.99% to 3,109.95, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was up 1.56% to settle at 2,527.95 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which gained 1.13% to close at 209.55.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 3.64% to 563.15 in late trade, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 3.03% to settle at 994.50 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.99% to 7,219.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1066 to 1027 and 43 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1938 rose and 1657 declined, while 129 ended unchanged.
Shares in SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL) rose to all time highs; rising 3.97% or 54.00 to 1,413.95. Shares in Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.63% or 140.20 to 5,478.95. Shares in Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.99% or 60.60 to 3,109.95.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.55% to 11.83.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.42% or 8.35 to $1,995.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.91% or 0.66 to hit $73.56 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.88% or 0.68 to trade at $78.10 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 83.26, while EUR/INR rose 0.18% to 90.48.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 103.99.
