Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.15% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC), which rose 2.70% or 290.55 points to trade at 11,043.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF) added 1.48% or 47.35 points to end at 3,245.10 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was up 1.29% or 42.30 points to 3,330.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL), which fell 5.80% or 154.20 points to trade at 2,505.10 at the close. SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL) declined 4.70% or 80.70 points to end at 1,635.30 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was down 3.68% or 26.40 points to 690.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which rose 2.77% to 11,050.00, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 1.51% to settle at 2,832.70 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which gained 1.37% to close at 3,335.00.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 5.83% to 2,503.05 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 2.71% to settle at 2,263.95 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 2.06% to 470.65 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1588 to 867 and 102 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2250 fell and 1506 advanced, while 95 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.71% or 63.15 to 2,263.95.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.80% to 13.92.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.76% or 20.80 to $2,750.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.78% or 1.26 to hit $72.03 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.69% or 1.27 to trade at $76.23 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 84.07, while EUR/INR rose 0.28% to 90.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 104.02.
