Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Technology, IT and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.14%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 2.82% or 4.90 points to trade at 178.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) added 2.01% or 43.25 points to end at 2198.55 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was up 2.00% or 60.45 points to 3085.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST), which fell 4.34% or 770.75 points to trade at 16971.20 at the close. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) declined 3.24% or 6.40 points to end at 191.25 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was down 2.60% or 9.35 points to 349.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which rose 1.63% to 2191.10, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 1.57% to settle at 577.85 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which gained 1.56% to close at 4903.30.
The worst performers were Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 4.42% to 16967.75 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 3.39% to settle at 191.00 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 2.22% to 823.65 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1053 to 548 and 106 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1697 rose and 1014 declined, while 170 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.57% or 8.95 to 577.85. Shares in Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) rose to all time highs; up 1.56% or 75.45 to 4903.30.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.02% to 19.8175.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.60 to $1806.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.90% or 0.41 to hit $45.30 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.67% or 0.32 to trade at $48.11 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.11% to 73.916, while EUR/INR rose 0.21% to 88.1300.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 91.938.
