Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Metals and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.13%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC), which rose 3.47% or 363.10 points to trade at 10,826.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) added 2.51% or 140.35 points to end at 5,722.20 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) was up 2.47% or 37.00 points to 1,534.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which fell 2.70% or 37.25 points to trade at 1,340.35 at the close. Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) declined 2.21% or 33.85 points to end at 1,499.75 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) was down 1.88% or 9.10 points to 475.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which rose 3.19% to 10,796.05, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 2.13% to settle at 315.95 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which gained 1.81% to close at 2,548.85.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 2.65% to 1,341.00 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 2.26% to settle at 1,498.75 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 1.81% to 475.70 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1527 to 733 and 23 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2533 rose and 1309 declined, while 130 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.87% to 16.40 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.49% or 11.30 to $2,313.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.15% or 0.11 to hit $75.64 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.20% or 0.16 to trade at $79.78 a barrel.
USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 83.53, while EUR/INR fell 1.30% to 89.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 104.98.
