Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Public Sector Undertakings, Auto and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.13% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which rose 2.89% or 5.90 points to trade at 210.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) added 2.55% or 61.30 points to end at 2469.30 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was up 2.74% or 39.85 points to 1494.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which fell 2.49% or 8.75 points to trade at 342.20 at the close. Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) declined 2.20% or 14.40 points to end at 640.55 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC) was down 2.14% or 46.90 points to 2138.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 2.94% to 210.00, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was up 2.76% to settle at 1493.70 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which gained 2.50% to close at 2465.00.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 2.49% to 342.05 in late trade, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which lost 2.24% to settle at 2137.65 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 1.57% to 2521.35 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 803 to 766 and 73 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1216 fell and 1149 advanced, while 162 ended unchanged.
Shares in Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.89% or 5.90 to 210.45.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.21% to 13.4275.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.47% or 6.70 to $1420.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.36% or 0.20 to hit $56.02 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.46% or 0.29 to trade at $62.97 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.01% to 68.925, while EUR/INR fell 0.24% to 77.0580.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 97.197.
