Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Capital Goods and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.12%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which rose 6.56% or 213.55 points to trade at 3,468.00 at the close. Meanwhile, ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) added 6.49% or 30.30 points to end at 496.85 and Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN) was up 4.23% or 50.95 points to 1,255.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF), which fell 3.28% or 92.60 points to trade at 2,734.80 at the close. Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) declined 3.00% or 109.45 points to end at 3,542.00 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was down 2.97% or 19.95 points to 652.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which rose 6.71% to 3,471.00, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 6.58% to settle at 497.00 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 2.53% to close at 383.00.
The worst performers were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 3.02% to 3,541.00 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 2.07% to settle at 6,740.00 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 1.65% to 863.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1266 to 984 and 22 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2064 fell and 1681 advanced, while 108 ended unchanged.
Shares in ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) rose to all time highs; rising 6.49% or 30.30 to 496.85. Shares in ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) rose to all time highs; rising 6.58% or 30.70 to 497.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 17.43% to 12.75 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.59% or 14.20 to $2,408.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.20% or 0.16 to hit $78.24 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.21% or 0.17 to trade at $82.23 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.05% to 83.72, while EUR/INR fell 0.26% to 90.91.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 104.18.
