Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Metals, Auto and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.12%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL), which rose 1.62% or 8.75 points to trade at 550.00 at the close. Meanwhile, AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) added 1.49% or 9.35 points to end at 634.90 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was up 1.48% or 6.80 points to 465.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA), which fell 4.16% or 160.95 points to trade at 3,706.60 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 3.21% or 30.45 points to end at 917.20 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was down 3.20% or 92.25 points to 2,794.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 1.74% to 636.70, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 1.38% to settle at 465.80 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which gained 0.92% to close at 1,657.35.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 2.09% to 999.70 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 2.00% to settle at 5,400.45 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 1.74% to 10,921.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1175 to 648 and 45 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1838 fell and 1324 advanced, while 140 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) fell to 52-week lows; falling 1.74% or 193.45 to 10,921.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.27% to 21.84.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.36% or 6.50 to $1,811.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.46% or 0.50 to hit $109.28 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.29% or 0.33 to trade at $112.12 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.13% to 78.98, while EUR/INR fell 0.16% to 82.26.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 105.07.
