Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.10%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH), which rose 3.25% or 205.25 points to trade at 6,513.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 1.99% or 11.50 points to end at 588.30 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) was up 1.89% or 20.55 points to 1,107.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which fell 1.78% or 66.60 points to trade at 3,682.30 at the close. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 1.59% or 73.10 points to end at 4,522.00 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was down 1.52% or 6.80 points to 440.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which rose 1.81% to 1,106.55, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 1.35% to settle at 1,497.00 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which gained 1.00% to close at 1,706.60.
The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 1.70% to 3,684.00 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 1.38% to settle at 2,930.05 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.24% to 2,858.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1331 to 841 and 43 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2166 fell and 1541 advanced, while 95 ended unchanged.
Shares in ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.89% or 20.55 to 1,107.70. Shares in ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) rose to all time highs; up 1.81% or 19.70 to 1,106.55.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.20% to 11.35.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.08% or 25.35 to $2,376.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.30% or 0.26 to hit $86.69 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.35% or 0.32 to trade at $90.70 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.08% to 83.22, while EUR/INR rose 0.01% to 90.44.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 103.81.
