Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, IT and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.10%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC), which rose 3.19% or 5.35 points to trade at 173.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) added 1.11% or 49.55 points to end at 4,503.35 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was up 0.98% or 1.10 points to 113.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which fell 3.11% or 50.35 points to trade at 1,571.10 at the close. Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) declined 2.35% or 108.55 points to end at 4,502.05 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was down 1.72% or 3.75 points to 214.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which rose 3.22% to 173.20, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 0.93% to settle at 217.70 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 0.79% to close at 2,434.50.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 1.40% to 971.40 in late trade, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which lost 1.12% to settle at 7,343.60 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.05% to 3,449.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1139 to 752 and 70 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1916 fell and 1414 advanced, while 137 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.67% to 14.01.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.42% or 7.75 to $1,842.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.91% or 0.70 to hit $77.25 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.32% or 0.27 to trade at $83.80 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.14% to 82.81, while EUR/INR fell 0.07% to 88.27.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 103.93.
