Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Consumer Durables and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.10%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which rose 9.92% or 478.75 points to trade at 5306.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) added 7.11% or 53.40 points to end at 804.90 and Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) was up 3.76% or 13.00 points to 359.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK), which fell 2.28% or 24.70 points to trade at 1058.90 at the close. Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM) declined 2.00% or 397.65 points to end at 19490.75 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was down 1.85% or 24.10 points to 1281.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 3.73% to 496.70, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 2.79% to settle at 654.90 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 2.67% to close at 808.00.
The worst performers were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 2.39% to 1057.40 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 1.88% to settle at 6952.00 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 1.82% to 5897.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 888 to 724 and 78 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1389 fell and 1254 advanced, while 163 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.27% to 20.0450.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.59% or 11.60 to $1961.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.41% or 0.17 to hit $41.14 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.53% or 0.23 to trade at $43.53 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.25% to 73.419, while EUR/INR fell 0.28% to 86.9470.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 92.898.
