Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.09%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS), which rose 2.58% or 70.90 points to trade at 2,813.90 at the close. Meanwhile, NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) added 2.48% or 9.05 points to end at 373.70 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was up 2.41% or 271.50 points to 11,529.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which fell 9.31% or 51.85 points to trade at 505.35 at the close. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) declined 3.39% or 105.50 points to end at 3,004.80 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was down 3.25% or 59.25 points to 1,762.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which rose 2.58% to 373.90, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was up 2.34% to settle at 11,532.00 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which gained 2.15% to close at 1,641.60.
The worst performers were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 9.28% to 505.55 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 3.46% to settle at 3,002.00 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 3.30% to 1,761.70 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1315 to 974 and 29 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2099 rose and 1755 declined, while 132 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.13% to 15.44 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.37% or 8.95 to $2,408.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.31% or 0.24 to hit $78.40 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.27% or 0.22 to trade at $82.41 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.08% to 83.66, while EUR/INR fell 0.04% to 91.10.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 103.96.
