Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Auto and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.08%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF), which rose 3.77% or 93.05 points to trade at 2,559.00 at the close. Meanwhile, NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) added 2.28% or 7.85 points to end at 352.65 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was up 1.75% or 67.80 points to 3,951.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST), which fell 2.60% or 68.30 points to trade at 2,555.00 at the close. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) declined 2.04% or 189.10 points to end at 9,087.00 and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) was down 1.73% or 107.65 points to 6,129.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which rose 2.20% to 352.40, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 1.81% to settle at 3,953.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 1.75% to close at 1,258.25.
The worst performers were Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 2.62% to 2,553.85 in late trade, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which lost 1.57% to settle at 6,136.90 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 1.40% to 1,732.05 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1617 to 585 and 33 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2709 rose and 1005 declined, while 99 ended unchanged.
Shares in Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF) rose to all time highs; up 3.77% or 93.05 to 2,559.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.40% to 11.37 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.41% or 9.45 to $2,291.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.36% or 0.31 to hit $85.46 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.38 to trade at $89.30 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.12% to 83.45, while EUR/INR rose 0.15% to 89.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 104.56.
