Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Metals and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.07%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which rose 11.09% or 21.75 points to trade at 217.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) added 7.02% or 47.65 points to end at 726.10 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was up 5.69% or 63.85 points to 1185.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which fell 2.17% or 4.25 points to trade at 191.95 at the close. ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) declined 2.03% or 7.95 points to end at 384.45 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) was down 1.99% or 10.95 points to 539.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which rose 5.63% to 1184.90, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 3.16% to settle at 758.25 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which gained 2.23% to close at 16351.15.
The worst performers were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 2.42% to 382.75 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 1.95% to settle at 539.70 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.65% to 178.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 905 to 688 and 76 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1444 rose and 1175 declined, while 173 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.85% to 20.5025.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.41% or 7.95 to $1936.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.69% or 0.70 to hit $40.81 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.53% or 0.68 to trade at $43.75 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.37% to 73.538, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 86.9000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 92.972.
