Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the IT, Technology and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.06%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 8.48% or 15.95 points to trade at 204.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 4.92% or 10.85 points to end at 231.25 and AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) was up 3.39% or 19.75 points to 602.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which fell 3.80% or 40.10 points to trade at 1008.90 at the close. Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) declined 3.77% or 33.40 points to end at 852.05 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) was down 3.18% or 80.85 points to 2461.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 8.35% to 203.75, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 3.51% to settle at 602.35 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 2.84% to close at 1464.95.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 2.90% to 666.35 in late trade, Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which lost 1.90% to settle at 261.10 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.85% to 156.85 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1054 to 532 and 49 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1558 rose and 957 declined, while 122 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.06% to 19.1925.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.06% or 12.90 to $1225.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.81% or 0.53 to hit $64.78 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.62% or 1.22 to trade at $74.25 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.38% to 73.800, while EUR/INR rose 0.09% to 83.7360.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 96.42.
