Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Metals, Capital Goods and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.05%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which rose 5.15% or 20.60 points to trade at 420.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 4.62% or 18.70 points to end at 423.65 and Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) was up 3.38% or 7.90 points to 241.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which fell 2.27% or 6.00 points to trade at 258.55 at the close. Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN) declined 1.74% or 13.30 points to end at 748.95 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was down 1.20% or 3.00 points to 246.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which rose 4.87% to 420.15, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 4.58% to settle at 423.90 and Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which gained 0.61% to close at 573.50.
The worst performers were Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was down 2.49% to 258.20 in late trade, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which lost 1.02% to settle at 1752.85 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 0.92% to 1226.40 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 796 to 755 and 19 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1271 fell and 1256 advanced, while 143 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.20% to 11.4650.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.07% or 0.86 to $1311.66 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.85% or 0.43 to hit $50.78 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.65% or 0.36 to trade at $55.84 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.14% to 64.315, while EUR/INR rose 0.53% to 77.1001.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 91.66.
