Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the IT, Technology and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.05%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 2.48% or 4.00 points to trade at 165.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) added 2.07% or 12.70 points to end at 627.45 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was up 2.32% or 14.95 points to 657.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which fell 2.10% or 15.05 points to trade at 701.95 at the close. Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) declined 1.29% or 5.35 points to end at 406.50 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was down 1.62% or 15.50 points to 943.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which rose 4.20% to 81.80, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 2.95% to settle at 165.85 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which gained 2.37% to close at 658.50.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 2.26% to 701.95 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 1.52% to settle at 1274.85 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 1.52% to 1064.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 929 to 636 and 75 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1350 rose and 1088 declined, while 154 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.71% to 14.6450.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.47% or 6.65 to $1408.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.03% or 0.61 to hit $58.77 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.55 to trade at $65.14 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.10% to 69.124, while EUR/INR fell 0.08% to 78.6490.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 95.685.
