Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Auto, Consumer Durables and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.05%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which rose 3.47% or 94.00 points to trade at 2806.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) added 2.90% or 9.20 points to end at 326.70 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 2.47% or 22.05 points to 915.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which fell 1.56% or 446.95 points to trade at 28097.50 at the close. NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) declined 1.39% or 2.45 points to end at 173.95 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was down 1.57% or 12.45 points to 778.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 3.64% to 2807.10, Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was up 2.66% to settle at 326.05 and Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which gained 1.33% to close at 308.10.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 1.45% to 2422.80 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 1.25% to settle at 173.95 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.22% to 1177.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 967 to 637 and 28 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1565 fell and 1289 advanced, while 115 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.35% to 14.0350.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.57% or 7.50 to $1321.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.78% or 0.49 to hit $63.45 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.46% or 0.32 to trade at $69.14 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 63.596, while EUR/INR rose 0.35% to 76.2707.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 91.80.
