Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, IT and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.04%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN), which rose 4.06% or 44.10 points to trade at 1,131.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) added 2.95% or 56.50 points to end at 1,972.45 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was up 2.56% or 15.40 points to 616.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which fell 2.43% or 113.80 points to trade at 4,566.95 at the close. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) declined 1.90% or 33.95 points to end at 1,756.75 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was down 1.59% or 24.75 points to 1,531.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 2.89% to 1,970.70, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was up 1.42% to settle at 2,622.70 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 1.11% to close at 1,558.25.
The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 1.79% to 1,757.40 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 1.53% to settle at 1,532.60 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 1.52% to 1,082.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1714 to 481 and 36 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2743 rose and 961 declined, while 98 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.56% to 11.65 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.07% or 24.05 to $2,281.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.07% or 1.73 to hit $85.44 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.88% or 1.64 to trade at $89.06 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.05% to 83.41, while EUR/INR fell 0.35% to 89.61.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 104.69.
