Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Public Sector Undertakings and Auto sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.04%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC), which rose 2.73% or 16.65 points to trade at 625.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) added 2.37% or 4.95 points to end at 213.85 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was up 1.90% or 35.50 points to 1901.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which fell 3.99% or 12.90 points to trade at 310.10 at the close. Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) declined 2.24% or 6.05 points to end at 263.50 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was down 2.78% or 7.05 points to 248.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 2.29% to 624.05, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 2.27% to settle at 213.80 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 1.33% to close at 3482.45.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 4.29% to 310.25 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which lost 4.27% to settle at 182.75 and Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was down 2.11% to 264.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1065 to 526 and 48 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1572 fell and 987 advanced, while 130 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.29% or 13.90 to 310.25. Shares in Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) fell to 3-years lows; losing 4.27% or 8.15 to 182.75.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 7.58% to 13.1650.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.68% or 9.00 to $1309.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.80% or 0.57 to hit $71.53 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.04% or 0.81 to trade at $79.04 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.38% to 67.945, while EUR/INR rose 0.48% to 80.9645.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 92.63.
