Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Auto and Consumer Durables sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.03%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which rose 1.82% or 20.95 points to trade at 1,170.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 1.79% or 6.55 points to end at 372.80 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was up 1.40% or 3.30 points to 239.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which fell 1.16% or 36.65 points to trade at 3,130.25 at the close. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) declined 0.88% or 66.45 points to end at 7,495.60 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was down 0.77% or 5.80 points to 748.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 1.92% to 1,171.65, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 1.38% to settle at 239.10 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 1.17% to close at 5,401.20.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 0.99% to 7,485.30 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 0.63% to settle at 2,324.20 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 0.52% to 1,480.15 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1098 to 977 and 49 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1905 rose and 1638 declined, while 132 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.79% to 11.19.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.82% or 16.40 to $1,972.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.04% or 1.65 to hit $79.17 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.11% or 1.80 to trade at $83.38 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.04% to 83.26, while EUR/INR fell 0.14% to 89.05.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 105.34.
