Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Technology and Green Energy sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.01%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 3.34% or 5.50 points to trade at 170.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) added 2.95% or 35.55 points to end at 1242.70 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 2.40% or 5.50 points to 234.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which fell 3.82% or 14.95 points to trade at 376.40 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 3.67% or 17.90 points to end at 469.25 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) was down 2.39% or 29.80 points to 1217.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which rose 4.32% to 171.55, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 2.19% to settle at 654.15 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which gained 1.82% to close at 510.40.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 2.31% to 1217.55 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 2.28% to settle at 1169.00 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 2.10% to 2366.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 984 to 562 and 15 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1496 rose and 963 declined, while 154 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.09% to 12.9275.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.46% or 6.01 to $1305.49 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.38% or 0.20 to hit $52.02 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.65% or 0.38 to trade at $58.05 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.23% to 65.425, while EUR/INR fell 0.02% to 77.1503.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 92.79.
