Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.01% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 4.09% or 11.80 points to trade at 300.00 at the close. Meanwhile, ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) added 2.33% or 10.10 points to end at 443.75 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) was up 2.25% or 13.65 points to 621.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which fell 3.33% or 108.95 points to trade at 3,160.40 at the close. Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) declined 3.23% or 149.75 points to end at 4,479.95 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was down 2.49% or 7.65 points to 299.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which rose 2.39% to 444.00, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was up 1.33% to settle at 2,581.05 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which gained 1.31% to close at 542.00.
The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 3.31% to 3,161.00 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 1.23% to settle at 172.60 and JSW Steel Ltd (BO:JSTL) which was down 1.21% to 942.60 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1422 to 872 and 21 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2179 fell and 1723 advanced, while 107 ended unchanged.
Shares in Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 4.09% or 11.80 to 300.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 7.13% to 13.60.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.68% or 16.30 to $2,381.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.96% or 0.80 to hit $82.36 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.80% or 0.69 to trade at $85.85 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 83.50, while EUR/INR rose 0.08% to 90.48.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 104.59.
