Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the IT, Auto and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.15% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 2.48% or 4.85 points to trade at 200.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) added 2.47% or 67.40 points to end at 2792.75 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 2.24% or 10.00 points to 456.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which fell 2.53% or 10.25 points to trade at 395.45 at the close. Bank of Baroda Ltd (NS:BOB) declined 2.37% or 3.95 points to end at 162.65 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) was down 1.96% or 10.75 points to 538.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which rose 2.44% to 2796.20, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 2.28% to settle at 456.95 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 1.81% to close at 163.05.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.59% to 394.90 in late trade, Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which lost 2.06% to settle at 538.15 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 1.92% to 263.35 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 981 to 578 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1529 fell and 1125 advanced, while 135 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.21% to 10.8900.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.31% or 3.76 to $1209.44 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.72% or 0.32 to hit $44.08 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.77% or 0.36 to trade at $46.52 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.17% to 64.567, while EUR/INR rose 0.09% to 73.5663.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 95.89.
