Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Auto, Green Energy and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty gained 1.38%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 1.17%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NSE:BRTI), which rose 5.61% or 22.60 points to trade at 425.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Lupin Ltd (NSE:LUPN) added 5.07% or 88.50 points to end at 1833.25 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NSE:MAHM) was up 5.00% or 59.95 points to 1258.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NSE:HALC), which fell 1.79% or 2.35 points to trade at 129.25 at the close. NMDC Ltd (NSE:NMDC) declined 1.75% or 2.30 points to end at 129.05 and Punjab National Bank (NSE:PNBK) was down 1.66% or 2.60 points to 153.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (BO:BRTI) which rose 5.98% to 425.30, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 4.89% to settle at 1260.20 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which gained 2.30% to close at 389.90.
The worst performers were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which was down 2.16% to 129.15 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which lost 0.40% to settle at 481.60 and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BO:BHEL) which was down 0.14% to 251.60 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 812 to 609 and 11 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 467 rose and 258 declined, while 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd. (BO:BRTI) rose to 3-years highs; up 5.98% or 24.00 to 425.30.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was down 2.77% to 16.6575 a new 1-month low.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.07% or 0.80 to $1189.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.22% or 0.70 to hit $58.38 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.00% or 0.62 to trade at $63.20 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 63.855, while EUR/INR rose 0.32% to 70.0460.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 97.01.
