Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Banking and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty gained 1.05%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.98%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were AXIS Bank Ltd. (NSE:AXBK), which rose 4.69% or 23.20 points to trade at 517.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Bank Of Baroda (NSE:BOB) added 4.25% or 7.75 points to end at 190.30 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NSE:ONGC) was up 3.77% or 8.70 points to 239.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Motors Ltd . (NSE:TAMO), which fell 2.31% or 7.80 points to trade at 330.25 at the close. Bajaj Auto Limited (NSE:BAJA) declined 2.24% or 52.65 points to end at 2297.50 and GAIL Ltd (NSE:GAIL) was down 1.96% or 5.75 points to 287.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 4.70% to 517.30, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was up 3.49% to settle at 238.60 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which gained 3.31% to close at 64.00.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which was down 2.81% to 328.40 in late trade, Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which lost 2.20% to settle at 2294.15 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was down 1.73% to 287.65 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 990 to 431 and 9 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 504 rose and 253 declined, while 1 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was down 16.84% to 18.2925.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.78% or 19.90 to $1136.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.01% or 0.47 to hit $46.42 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $49.05 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.48% to 65.820, while EUR/INR fell 0.40% to 75.2690.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.33% at 94.31.
