Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, IT and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty rose 0.67%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Vedanta Ltd (NSE:VDAN), which rose 5.92% or 5.40 points to trade at 96.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NSE:ONGC) added 5.80% or 13.35 points to end at 243.65 and Cairn India Limited (NSE:CAIL) was up 4.56% or 6.35 points to 145.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NSE:BPCL), which fell 2.19% or 19.25 points to trade at 860.95 at the close. Lupin Ltd (NSE:LUPN) declined 2.05% or 39.00 points to end at 1860.85 and Punjab National Bank (NSE:PNBK) was down 1.82% or 2.65 points to 143.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 5.70% to 96.35, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was up 5.55% to settle at 243.55 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 4.29% to close at 362.25.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 2.00% to 884.95 in late trade, Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which lost 1.00% to settle at 357.40 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 0.27% to 2570.65 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 723 to 703 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 371 fell and 371 advanced, while 1 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was up 5.84% to 23.3300.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.39% or 4.40 to $1127.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.53% or 0.23 to hit $42.34 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.71% or 0.34 to trade at $47.22 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.27% to 66.150, while EUR/INR rose 0.53% to 74.5910.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 95.60.
