Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Metals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty gained 0.41% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.55%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Tata Motors Ltd . (NSE:TAMO), which rose 5.89% or 18.55 points to trade at 333.70 at the close. Meanwhile, ITC Ltd (NSE:ITC) added 4.05% or 13.35 points to end at 342.85 and Coal India Limited (NSE:COAL) was up 3.93% or 12.95 points to 342.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (NSE:BHEL), which fell 3.13% or 6.40 points to trade at 197.75 at the close. Infosys Ltd (NSE:INFY) declined 2.30% or 27.15 points to end at 1154.60 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NSE:ULTC) was down 1.73% or 48.65 points to 2767.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which rose 5.81% to 333.50, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 4.21% to settle at 342.90 and Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which gained 4.02% to close at 342.75.
The worst performers were Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BO:BHEL) which was down 2.82% to 198.05 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 2.17% to settle at 1154.85 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 1.32% to 4357.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 842 to 583 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 446 rose and 308 declined, while 2 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was up 0.93% to 19.3050.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.01% or 0.10 to $1137.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.19% or 0.09 to hit $46.17 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.21 to trade at $49.46 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.43% to 65.410, while EUR/INR rose 0.54% to 73.2720.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 96.08.
