Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT, Consumer Durables and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty gained 0.29%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Lupin Ltd (NSE:LUPN), which rose 3.55% or 68.30 points to trade at 1990.35 at the close. Meanwhile, HCL Technologies Ltd (NSE:HCLT) added 3.00% or 27.85 points to end at 954.95 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (NSE:TTPW) was up 2.85% or 1.80 points to 65.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NSE:ONGC), which fell 3.83% or 9.05 points to trade at 227.50 at the close. NMDC Ltd (NSE:NMDC) declined 3.56% or 3.50 points to end at 94.75 and Coal India Limited (NSE:COAL) was down 2.87% or 9.40 points to 318.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which rose 2.85% to 64.95, Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was up 2.51% to settle at 294.45 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 2.22% to close at 1141.40.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 3.71% to 227.40 in late trade, Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which lost 2.79% to settle at 318.60 and TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was down 2.58% to 215.40 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 766 to 655 and 15 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 409 rose and 345 declined, while 1 ended unchanged.
Shares in Coal India Limited (NSE:COAL) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.87% or 9.40 to 318.40. Shares in Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.79% or 9.15 to 318.60.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was up 0.94% to 20.8825.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.27% or 3.10 to $1134.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $44.49 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $47.76 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.14% to 66.180, while EUR/INR rose 0.25% to 74.2110.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 96.13.
