Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Banking and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 2.89% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 2.83%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 13.66% or 55.15 points to trade at 450.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 8.91% or 329.80 points to end at 4023.75 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) was up 9.14% or 128.95 points to 1528.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which fell 8.08% or 24.35 points to trade at 271.60 at the close. Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) declined 4.97% or 40.00 points to end at 764.35 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) was down 4.36% or 8.55 points to 188.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sobha Developers Ltd. (BO:SOBH) which rose 6.39% to 537.10, Godrej Properties Ltd (BO:GODR) which was up 5.57% to settle at 1013.90 and Sunteck Realty Ltd (BO:SUNT) which gained 5.06% to close at 455.00.
The worst performers were Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd (BO:INRL) which was down 0.67% to 59.10 in late trade, DLF Ltd (BO:DLF) which lost 0.45% to settle at 167.50 and Omaxe Ltd (BO:OMAX) which was up 0.57% to 193.70 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1064 to 514 and 76 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1553 rose and 929 declined, while 174 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 13.66% or 55.15 to 450.85. Shares in Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) fell to 5-year lows; losing 8.08% or 24.35 to 271.60. Shares in Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) rose to all time highs; rising 8.91% or 329.80 to 4023.75.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 9.04% to 16.7925.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.83% or 12.65 to $1527.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.57% or 0.33 to hit $57.76 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.44% or 0.28 to trade at $64.00 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.21% to 70.912, while EUR/INR fell 0.47% to 77.9255.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 98.320.
