Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Metals and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 2.57%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 2.71%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which rose 10.46% or 204.35 points to trade at 2158.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) added 7.83% or 345.05 points to end at 4749.95 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was up 7.70% or 68.50 points to 958.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which fell 2.94% or 119.75 points to trade at 3951.50 at the close. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) declined 2.46% or 5.65 points to end at 224.30 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was down 2.17% or 84.85 points to 3820.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 10.62% to 2160.05, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 7.70% to settle at 959.15 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 6.72% to close at 315.05.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 2.17% to 465.15 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 2.14% to settle at 17157.80 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 2.10% to 3820.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1287 to 261 and 77 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1792 rose and 562 declined, while 133 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.73% to 30.7425.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.24% or 4.20 to $1747.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.70% or 0.25 to hit $35.24 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.05 to trade at $37.89 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 75.534, while EUR/INR rose 0.01% to 83.9305.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 98.153.
