Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Metals and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 2.32%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 2.30%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which rose 7.30% or 86.60 points to trade at 1273.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) added 5.67% or 13.00 points to end at 242.30 and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) was up 5.60% or 6.05 points to 114.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which fell 5.30% or 13.60 points to trade at 243.00 at the close. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) declined 3.76% or 123.60 points to end at 3160.90 and Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) was down 2.78% or 1.00 points to 35.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which rose 7.55% to 1275.50, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 3.85% to settle at 215.70 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which gained 3.76% to close at 2345.70.
The worst performers were Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 3.86% to 3162.50 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which lost 1.08% to settle at 2155.00 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 0.22% to 2107.70 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1056 to 466 and 92 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1531 rose and 852 declined, while 163 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 8.89% to 14.3800.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.52% or 8.25 to $1574.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.46% or 0.73 to hit $50.84 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.79% or 0.43 to trade at $54.88 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.09% to 71.254, while EUR/INR fell 0.14% to 78.7575.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 97.725.
