Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Banking and Capital Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 2.11%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 2.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 5.06% or 3.00 points to trade at 62.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 5.81% or 20.30 points to end at 368.20 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC) was up 5.20% or 106.25 points to 2148.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL), which fell 3.06% or 6.75 points to trade at 214.10 at the close. Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) declined 2.10% or 7.25 points to end at 338.05 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was down 2.07% or 8.85 points to 419.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 6.33% to 63.00, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was up 5.24% to settle at 2148.25 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which gained 4.66% to close at 3323.35.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 2.00% to 337.90 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 1.96% to settle at 419.30 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 1.92% to 2589.60 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1138 to 435 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1632 rose and 770 declined, while 130 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.99% to 16.6550.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 3.05 to $1540.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.81% or 0.44 to hit $54.61 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.37% or 0.22 to trade at $59.02 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.71% to 72.002, while EUR/INR rose 0.50% to 80.0740.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 97.822.
