Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Auto, IT and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.63%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.74%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which rose 6.67% or 68.25 points to trade at 1088.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 5.62% or 6.60 points to end at 124.05 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was up 4.99% or 10.60 points to 221.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC), which fell 4.03% or 15.40 points to trade at 367.40 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 2.78% or 14.40 points to end at 503.05 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was down 2.28% or 99.05 points to 4233.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which rose 6.55% to 58.60, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 6.43% to settle at 1088.00 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which gained 5.58% to close at 123.95.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 3.77% to 367.40 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 0.81% to settle at 1415.05 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 0.01% to 660.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 931 to 618 and 79 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1330 rose and 987 declined, while 142 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.87% to 16.0925.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.73% or 11.05 to $1508.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.72% or 0.88 to hit $51.97 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.07% or 0.60 to trade at $56.83 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.65% to 70.668, while EUR/INR fell 0.61% to 79.1565.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 97.377.
