Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, IT and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.39%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.42%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which rose 5.14% or 72.55 points to trade at 1483.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 4.25% or 21.15 points to end at 518.45 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was up 3.92% or 15.00 points to 397.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which fell 3.41% or 30.80 points to trade at 872.75 at the close. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) declined 2.19% or 41.65 points to end at 1856.65 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was down 1.79% or 14.15 points to 776.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which rose 5.01% to 1481.15, Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was up 3.70% to settle at 572.65 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which gained 3.22% to close at 15689.85.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 3.51% to 871.85 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which lost 2.14% to settle at 1857.50 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 0.38% to 2274.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 995 to 851 and 34 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1782 rose and 1648 declined, while 149 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 6.08% to 21.9525.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.22% or 3.90 to $1788.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.99% or 0.86 to hit $87.68 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.97% or 0.86 to trade at $89.38 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.48% to 74.684, while EUR/INR fell 0.18% to 83.4610.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 97.037.
