Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Banking and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.38% to hit a new 6-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.54%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 7.88% or 10.55 points to trade at 144.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC) added 7.56% or 134.90 points to end at 1920.00 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) was up 4.59% or 9.55 points to 217.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT), which fell 1.47% or 56.45 points to trade at 3774.00 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) declined 1.34% or 2.40 points to end at 176.65 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) was down 1.32% or 4.40 points to 329.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which rose 7.49% to 1919.00, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 3.44% to settle at 622.45 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which gained 3.42% to close at 627.75.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 1.14% to 377.80 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 1.00% to settle at 15879.10 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 0.36% to 521.25 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 938 to 668 and 95 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1437 rose and 1150 declined, while 159 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.36% to 19.6350.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.10% or 2.00 to $1918.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.10% or 0.43 to hit $39.65 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.11% or 0.46 to trade at $41.75 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.43% to 73.427, while EUR/INR rose 0.49% to 86.5525.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 93.493.
