Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Metals, Real Estate and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.34% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.31%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which rose 7.37% or 17.10 points to trade at 250.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 8.13% or 34.20 points to end at 451.40 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was up 5.25% or 21.00 points to 419.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which fell 5.33% or 19.10 points to trade at 343.80 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 2.28% or 3.05 points to end at 130.95 and Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) was down 1.39% or 0.90 points to 63.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 7.20% to 451.30, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 4.99% to settle at 419.55 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 3.49% to close at 1497.20.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 2.17% to 130.90 in late trade, Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which lost 1.70% to settle at 63.70 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 0.06% to 247.80 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 960 to 619 and 73 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1340 rose and 1045 declined, while 189 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.87% to 15.0025.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.34% or 5.05 to $1465.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $57.78 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $62.38 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.10% to 71.715, while EUR/INR fell 0.14% to 78.9940.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 98.197.
