Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Auto, Metals and Green Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.28% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 1.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which rose 7.39% or 64.00 points to trade at 929.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 6.54% or 20.65 points to end at 336.55 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 6.30% or 16.50 points to 278.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT), which fell 1.85% or 65.55 points to trade at 3476.10 at the close. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) declined 1.43% or 32.55 points to end at 2237.00 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was down 1.39% or 27.60 points to 1955.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 7.23% to 928.20, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 3.24% to settle at 10032.15 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 2.90% to close at 1309.25.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.47% to 2237.00 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which lost 1.29% to settle at 1957.00 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 0.70% to 5500.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 990 to 680 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1652 rose and 1274 declined, while 180 ended unchanged.

(BO:MAHM) rose to 52-week highs; rising 7.23% or 62.60 to 928.20. Shares in Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) rose to all time highs; rising 3.24% or 314.65 to 10032.15.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.32% to 23.9575.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.02% or 0.45 to $1813.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.14% or 0.65 to hit $57.50 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.46 to trade at $60.02 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.21% to 72.963, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 87.7555.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 91.183.
