Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Metals and Capital Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.18%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which rose 6.48% or 20.70 points to trade at 340.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 5.04% or 42.15 points to end at 878.50 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 4.28% or 9.45 points to 230.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which fell 2.64% or 60.70 points to trade at 2235.05 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) declined 1.53% or 30.05 points to end at 1932.20 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was down 1.32% or 8.80 points to 655.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 3.61% to 567.85, Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was up 3.16% to settle at 339.60 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 2.99% to close at 972.95.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.45% to 1939.30 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which lost 1.19% to settle at 3472.05 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 1.17% to 2108.05 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1231 to 365 and 48 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1786 rose and 719 declined, while 136 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 7.24% to 12.9375.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.08% or 1.00 to $1252.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.25% or 0.18 to hit $73.27 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.03% or 0.80 to trade at $78.41 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.36% to 68.545, while EUR/INR rose 0.15% to 79.7596.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 94.59.
