Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Consumer Durables and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.16%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 5.75% or 53.05 points to trade at 975.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) added 5.04% or 802.15 points to end at 16706.00 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 3.37% or 38.15 points to 1170.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which fell 1.51% or 22.80 points to trade at 1482.95 at the close. UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) declined 1.01% or 76.25 points to end at 7440.00 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) was down 0.92% or 171.05 points to 18500.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 5.57% to 973.40, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 5.13% to settle at 16706.90 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which gained 3.40% to close at 1171.10.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 1.61% to 1482.75 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 1.03% to settle at 18471.60 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 0.97% to 7439.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1358 to 449 and 27 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2215 rose and 1041 declined, while 93 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 6.64% to 18.6500.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.09% or 1.70 to $1803.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.34% or 0.30 to hit $88.50 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.20% or 0.18 to trade at $89.34 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.00% to 74.749, while EUR/INR rose 0.40% to 84.5445.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 95.963.
