Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Green Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.15%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 1.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which rose 9.51% or 79.05 points to trade at 910.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 6.90% or 25.50 points to end at 395.10 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) was up 5.55% or 35.40 points to 673.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which fell 7.04% or 14.35 points to trade at 189.60 at the close. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) declined 2.66% or 16.35 points to end at 598.95 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) was down 2.44% or 4.85 points to 193.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 9.56% to 910.90, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 3.43% to settle at 568.80 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which gained 3.22% to close at 17450.00.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 2.67% to 598.50 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 2.42% to settle at 193.70 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.36% to 86.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 968 to 626 and 68 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1445 fell and 1009 advanced, while 151 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.53% to 25.3625.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.31% or 5.70 to $1808.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.04% or 0.43 to hit $40.77 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.64% or 0.28 to trade at $43.51 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.17% to 75.251, while EUR/INR rose 0.03% to 85.7370.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 96.207.
