Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Metals, Real Estate and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.15%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which rose 6.88% or 10.75 points to trade at 166.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) added 5.67% or 30.30 points to end at 566.95 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was up 5.40% or 10.40 points to 203.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which fell 4.66% or 2.50 points to trade at 51.05 at the close. Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) declined 3.35% or 14.20 points to end at 413.75 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was down 1.02% or 8.05 points to 782.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 6.47% to 166.15, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 6.00% to settle at 567.10 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which gained 4.15% to close at 136.90.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 4.93% to 51.05 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 1.28% to settle at 782.05 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 0.67% to 2033.80 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 851 to 709 and 77 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1212 rose and 1199 declined, while 150 ended unchanged.
Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) fell to 5-year lows; losing 4.66% or 2.50 to 51.05. Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.93% or 2.65 to 51.05.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.07% to 16.3425.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.22% or 3.35 to $1515.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.12% or 0.07 to hit $56.56 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $62.36 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.05% to 70.936, while EUR/INR fell 0.20% to 77.4970.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 98.743.
