Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Auto, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.13%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT), which rose 4.76% or 174.20 points to trade at 3,830.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 4.52% or 255.60 points to end at 5,916.70 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was up 4.37% or 503.80 points to 12,028.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which fell 5.06% or 6.45 points to trade at 120.95 at the close. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) declined 1.31% or 7.40 points to end at 557.45 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was down 1.25% or 4.30 points to 340.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which rose 4.54% to 12,042.55, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 4.51% to settle at 5,917.60 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 4.01% to close at 2,497.80.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.63% to 210.60 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 1.03% to settle at 139.30 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 0.87% to 2,411.95 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1051 to 757 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1733 rose and 1449 declined, while 135 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.50% to 20.27.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.23% or 4.05 to $1,759.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.41% or 0.41 to hit $99.91 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.08% or 1.11 to trade at $103.88 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.11% to 79.28, while EUR/INR fell 0.59% to 80.90.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 106.69.
