Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.11% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT), which rose 5.12% or 193.80 points to trade at 3978.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) added 4.44% or 11.60 points to end at 272.95 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 4.41% or 39.80 points to 942.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which fell 3.90% or 19.65 points to trade at 483.95 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 2.15% or 14.80 points to end at 674.30 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) was down 1.72% or 2.70 points to 154.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 4.13% to 3438.00, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 4.11% to settle at 649.10 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which gained 4.07% to close at 6619.50.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 3.86% to 483.85 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 1.19% to settle at 87.25 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 0.86% to 5867.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 949 to 663 and 87 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1399 rose and 1108 declined, while 165 ended unchanged.

Shares in Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) rose to all time highs; up 4.41% or 39.80 to 942.95. Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.11% or 25.65 to 649.10.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.30% to 24.7125.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.11% or 1.95 to $1811.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.93% or 0.38 to hit $40.37 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.88% or 0.38 to trade at $42.76 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.12% to 74.796, while EUR/INR rose 0.20% to 85.7120.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 95.763.
