Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, IT and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.09% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which rose 5.13% or 19.80 points to trade at 405.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 4.42% or 103.00 points to end at 2434.95 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) was up 4.09% or 10.55 points to 268.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which fell 0.63% or 8.60 points to trade at 1367.40 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 0.46% or 2.35 points to end at 505.75 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) was down 0.30% or 1.00 points to 333.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 5.39% to 405.40, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 4.66% to settle at 2440.85 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which gained 4.64% to close at 268.50.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 0.54% to 1367.70 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 0.25% to settle at 333.25 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 0.20% to 1095.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 897 to 631 and 9 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1517 rose and 1077 declined, while 133 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.41% to 10.9125.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.19% or 2.25 to $1207.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.88% or 0.39 to hit $43.84 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.86% or 0.40 to trade at $46.31 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.16% to 64.520, while EUR/INR fell 0.19% to 73.5170.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 95.88.
