Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Auto, Real Estate and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.08% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 4.94% or 53.05 points to trade at 1,126.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 4.90% or 23.40 points to end at 500.50 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was up 4.20% or 268.10 points to 6,657.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which fell 1.92% or 4.55 points to trade at 232.85 at the close. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) declined 1.71% or 32.80 points to end at 1,887.50 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was down 0.89% or 8.60 points to 961.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 4.92% to 1,126.85, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 4.21% to settle at 6,657.15 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which gained 3.32% to close at 1,404.75.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 0.89% to 961.80 in late trade, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which lost 0.59% to settle at 4,908.00 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 0.57% to 2,364.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1146 to 789 and 76 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1972 rose and 1553 declined, while 158 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.90% or 23.40 to 500.50.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.77% to 12.64 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.29% or 5.95 to $2,030.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.38% or 1.70 to hit $73.04 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.14% or 1.61 to trade at $76.91 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 81.79, while EUR/INR rose 0.36% to 90.36.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 100.87.
